%0 Journal Article %T An Evaluation on European Turkish Mother Language Educational Workshops %A Ay£¿e BA£¿KAPAN %A G¨¹ll¨¹ UYSAL %A Talat AYTAN %J - %D 2018 %X Among the study fields of Turkish teaching are mother language education and teaching, Turkish teaching to Turkish natives, Turkish teaching to foreigners and Turkish teaching to bilinguals. According to universal or intuitive grammar, the language exposed to in the environment where one is born and grow forms her/his mother language or first language; the language later learned with formal or informal motives constitutes her/his second language. Learning of the first language is defined with the term of acquisition and the second language with learning concepts. The acquisition of a second language requires the acquisition with phonological, morphological, syntactic and semantic world of mother language. It can be said that ¨Cat the expense of borrowing a metaphor of the principality, from the reality of that the building may be constructed only on a strong foundation¨C our citizens who are named as ¡°gastarbiter¡± by public can only acquire the language of where they live in an advanced level according to the European Language Portfolio with a strong Turkish main language sub-structure. The development of reading comprehension, verbal communication and writing skills of "our distant relatives" both in the mother language and in foreign language is very important in terms of the revival and continuation of the western side of our culture and civilization. The studies on teaching Turkish to bilinguals have gained a remarkable acceleration in recent years. In this regard, it is known that the Turks living in Western Europe have great problems to acquire their mother language and learn the official language of the country they live in; in other words, at the point of bilingualism. The studies carried out in the field of education and training of Turkish should give importance to the problems of European Turks who are dealing with them in terms of the transformation of "our population to others" and the solutions of cultural, identity and belonging issues. In this study the workshops of the European Turks Main Language Education organized in 2013, 2015 and 2016 under the leadership of Sakarya University were subjected to a content analysis due to the discussions, the status determinations and the solution proposals. As regards to the language education of European Turks; in the study, a wide range of problem map is revealed ranging from course instruments to assessment and evaluation; from the training of teachers to the cooperation with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), from the language and cultural policies of the countries to the educational climate %K Avrupa¡¯da T¨¹rk£¿e £¿£¿retimi %K ana dili e£¿itim £¿al£¿£¿taylar£¿ %K iki dillilik %U http://dergipark.org.tr/turkophone/issue/37122/466499
