%0 Journal Article %T The Effects of Negative News on Hormone and Antibiotic Use on Consumers¡¯ Broiler Consumption Habits (Kars Province Sample) %A P£¿nar Demir %J - %D 2018 %X Within the livestock sector in Turkey, the poultry industry is the most advanced sector with the highest potential of competition. The recent price increases experienced in the red meat sector in Turkey has increased the importance of this sector. Within this context, face-to-face surveys were conducted with a total of 475 people to determine whether the news about hormone and antibiotic use from time to time adversely affected the poultry consumption. In the study conducted, it was observed that 70% of the consumers in Kars see the chicken meat as risky in the direction of the news about the usage of hormones and antibiotics. In addition, it has been determined that consumers with particularly high incomes significantly reduce the consumption of poultry meat, while those with low-income levels have increased their consumption due to falling prices.
