%0 Journal Article %T A Sports with Religious Rituals from H£¿d£¿rellez Cult: ¡°K£¿rkp£¿nar Oil Wrestling¡± %A Mehmet Alparslan K¨¹£¿¨¹k %J - %D 2018 %X H£¿d£¿rellez, which is a concept that expresses the meeting of Khidr and Elijah on the earth. It is also on the foreground as a form of celebration on May 6th, in order to transition to the summer season, as an Islamic structure. In the historical process, the Turks organized various festivals and fairs in order to celebrate the coming of summer, under the name of ¡°H£¿d£¿rellez¡±. These festivals and fairs are performed in the green areas. ¡°Hidir/Khidr¡± which is inferred as a meaning ¡°green, green area, green area abundant¡± is identified with ¡°green¡± and ¡°green area¡±. Thus, "K£¿rkp£¿nar Oil Wrestling" took place in the history as a tradition which is included in the H£¿d£¿rellez celebrations and participated in various regions by wrestlers. K£¿rkp£¿nar Oil Wrestling, which is an ancestor sport and became a tradition starting with the memory of two martyrs during the Ottoman Period, is separated from other sports branches in terms of religious rituals. K£¿rkp£¿nar Oil Wrestling which is depicted as the most beautiful and eximious of greasy wrestling, begins with shout ¡°Allah Allah¡± accompanied with Mevlid-i Sharif and prayers after the Friday prayer. In wrestling, wrestlers wear K£¿spet which is evaluated as ¡°Bed of Nails¡± according to Islamic customs and traditions. The wrestler who wears K£¿spet reads ¡°Three Ihlas and Fatiha surahs¡± towards Kiblah. K£¿spet has three knots which are revive in mind as ¡°Serve Allah, Ummah the Prophet (Muhammad) and Right of Pir¡±. It is also stated that wrestlers who do not return to Kiblah and who do not know the meaning of the three knots are not allowed to be in the wrestling square. However, in the process of preparing for the wrestling (pe£¿rev), the wrestlers turn towards Kiblah and the wrestlers are kneeling, taking their right hand from the ground three times, to the knees, to their lips and to their heads. It means that the wrestler is not to be arrogant with his power and mastery, wrestler come from the earth and he will turn to the earth again and his own characteristics mean a trust of Allah. There is also a religious interpretation of going three steps back and forth.
