%0 Journal Article %T The Case of BBC-Jeremy Bowen Regarding Media Ethics in Stories on Middle East %A Sel£¿uk OKTAY %J - %D 2019 %X In this piece, the analysis of gatekeeping theory on the basis of media ethics and objectivity will be made on the case of Jeremy Bowen-BBC. The arguments about the stories of Jeremy Bowen, BBC¡¯s Middle East editor, will be reviewed regarding specifical time episode. This episode is between 2008-2010. The reason of choosing this episode is increase tension in Middle East at this time. Most critical incident in this special time is Israel¡¯s penetration to Gaza. The election in Israel is sginificant as well. With elections whic held in 10th February 2009, after a limited chaos, Benyamin Netanyahu, the leader of rightist Likud Party formed the government. It can be claimed that there are some specifical elements of the positions of BBC¡¯s gatekeepers on the stories about Middle East regarding the case of Jeremy Bowen. BBC¡¯s journalism on Middle East has been argued in the UK and world as well. There are some reports about this journalism, like the Balen Report. In accordance with these reports BBC did not catch ideal objectivity on the stories about Middle East.
