%0 Journal Article %T Examining Humanitarian Values and Levels of Child Love of Teacher Candidates %A G¨¹l Kadan %A R£¿dvan K¨¹£¿¨¹kali %J - %D 2018 %X Values are important elements in human life. With the values that can be taught from an early age, a healthy continuation of a society can be ensured. Teachers have great implications for shaping the future of a society. Based on these thoughts, it was aimed to determine whether teacher candidates¡¯ human values and levels of child love differ according to some sociodemographic variables and to determine whether there is a significant relationship between human values and levels of child love. Correlational model of quantitative research methods were used in the research. ¡°General Information Form¡±, ¡°Humanitarian Values Scale¡± and ¡°Barnett Children¡¯s Love Scale¡± were collected in a survey conducted with 250 students who voluntarily participated in the research from Erzurum Ataturk University Faculty of literature. Whether the data showed normal distribution were examined with Kolmogorov Smirnov test result and Kurtosis and Skewness values. It was determined that the data did not show normal distribution. Kruskal Wallis test, Mann Whitney U test and Spearman Correlation analysis were used to analyze the data. As a result of the research it was found that 78% of the teacher candidates were female, 22% were male, 48,8% were in the 21-23 age group, 48,8% of them 2nd. Class, 60,4% of the teacher candidates of mothers and 34,8% of the fathers have a primarily school graduates, 33,2% had four or more siblings. In the research it was found there were significant differences between the teacher candidates in terms of gender, age, class level, mother¡¯s education level, number of siblings, preference of department and humanitarian value scale, and teacher candidates in terms of gender, mother¡¯s education level and child loving scale. At the same time, a significant relationship was found between the humanitarian scale, and the child loving scale.
