%X Beyond being one of the core expectations of individuals, happiness is one of the basic issues of public policies and academic studies. Tourism sector can have direct effects on the happiness of people due to its positive and / or negative impacts. This paper held in Mente£¿e (Mu£¿la), where is neighbor to mature tourism destinations, is of a size that can contribute to the literature due to the dearth of studies on tourism perception in the settlement distant from intensive tourism activities. In the scope of the study, whether the perceptions of tourism impacts affect the happiness of the residents who live away from tourism activities were examined through multivariate statistical analysis methods have been used. Findings indicate that positive socio-cultural and environmental impacts are effective on the happiness of residents and therefore underline that tourism planners should consider the local people not only in destinations but also in neighboring settlements
