%0 Journal Article %T HOW DID THE ORIGIN MYTHS EXPLAIN THE ORIGIN OF THE MARRIAGE INSTITUTION? %A Mehmet A£¿a %J - %D 2018 %X Marriage is important to not only the married people but also societies within which they are living in traditional societies. Marriage providing to be raised generations that would make possible continuation of existence of society is in the position of an important social work. For this reason, the marriage was carried out accompanied with a ceremony and the married people were accepted in the capacity of ¡°equal¡± and ¡°mature¡± people into the society which is constituted by other ¡°equal¡± and ¡°mature¡± people, in company with ¡°reproduction¡±-and ¡°plentifulness¡±-oriented rituals. It is not possible for the marriage, which is of a vital importance in being able to protect and to sustain social life, to stay out of narration of origin myths. Mythological consciousness regarding the marriage as the most important institution of the culture tried also to explain the origin or emergence of the marriage, as it was in examples of a lot of other institutions and behaviours. In this study, we questioned how Turkic origin myths had explained emergence of marriage institution, by comparing with narrations which took part in the sacred books. We determined that, from explanations made, the marriage was perceived as transition from ¡°natural being¡± to ¡°cultural/social being¡± and as the breaking from mythological world and from happy timelessness of the untamedness of being different, in general. The mythological consciousness describing the marriage as a ¡°restriction¡± which was sended to huminity together with the death decided that people living together, copulating and reproducing like animals in the past, without saying the relatives and without knowing marriage rules, got rid of untamedness by getting married %K Evlenme %K k£¿ken mitleri %K k¨¹lt¨¹r %K sosyalle£¿me %K olgun birey %U http://dergipark.org.tr/mahder/issue/36252/408667
