%0 Journal Article %T A Long Story: The Construction of Cihangir Mosque %A Osman Ta£¿k£¿n %J - %D 2019 %X This article consists on the long-standing reconstruction of the Cihangir mosque built on a hill that overlooking the Bosporus in the name of the son of the magnificent Sultan Suleiman, £¿ehzade Cihangir. £¿n this study, primarily the repairs that the mosque underwent and eventually the 15-year 7-month reconstruction period from 1873 when Sultan Abd¨¹laziz started to 1890 when Abd¨¹lhamid II. had it completed was discussed. Meanwhile, within the framework of a small mosque construction, it is possible to reach the economic difficulties of the Ottoman Empire and its monetary policy and the awkwordness of bureaucracy.
