Methods: Sixty-two individuals from the third year students of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department of Trakya University participated to the study. The students were divided into two groups: those who participated only in the symposium (Group I) and those who attended the nursing home visit and the symposium (Group II). The attitudes of the students towards the elderly were evaluated with "Ageism Attitude Scale (AAS)". The effectiveness of the education was examined with applying AAS before and after the education. Results: In order to show the effectiveness of the education the first and second scores of Group I and Group II AAS total and subtests were compared and no statistically significant difference found between the first and second scores of Group I and Group II AAS total and sub-dimensions (p> .05). Second assessments of AAS compared between the groups, significant differences were found total AAS scores and under all sub-dimensions of AAS except negative ageism sub-dimension in favor of Group I (p<.05). Conclusion: Before and after education unchanged attitudes of students towards the elderly in different educational types suggests that longer and more comprehensive education programs are needed to ensure positive attitudes and behavior in the students %K E£¿itim %K £¿£¿renci %K tutum %K ya£¿l£¿ %U http://dergipark.org.tr/cbusbed/issue/39368/424170
