%0 Journal Article %T A STUDY ON THE PLACE OF ERGONOMICS IN TURKISH WORK HEALTH AND SAFETY LEGISLATION %A Muvaffak Eng¨¹r %J - %D 2019 %X Ergonomics is one of the key factors in providing a healthy and safe work place. More clearly, ergonomics is the science of designing the work to workers rather than forcing them physically to adapt to the work. Fitting work stations, equipment and tasks to workers may help eliminate occupational diseases and accidents as well as diminish physical stress in worker¡¯s body. In this sense, ergonomics is a study area referenced by workers and occupational health and safety professionals to prevent issues arisen from occupational diseases and accidents. The objective of this study is to determine the place of ergonomics in the work health and safety legislation and who are responsible for the studies related to ergonomics. In the study, the legislation list for work health and safety on the official web pages of The Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services has been first examined. 7 laws, 112 regulations, 271 notifications and 6 directives have been investigated. 14 regulations and 1 notification directly related to ergonomics have been determined after these investigations. In addition, it is emphasized to ergonomics in 19 different places in these 14 regulations and 1 directive. The Regulation on Health and Safety Conditions in the Use of Work Equipment is found as the most citing regulation to ergonomics (totally 4 times).
