Nutrition has been shown in the literature to be an important factor affecting mortality and morbidity in elderly patients. Geriatric care is required because themajority of individuals receiving home care are over 65 years of age. In our study, we aimed to evaluate the nutritionalstatus of nursing home patients over 65 years of age. Method: The files of the patients who were served from £¿i£¿li Hamidiye Etfal Education Research Hospital Home CareUnitfiliated to the Family Physician were scanned by retrospective screening method in 2016. Age, gender, Mini-Nutrition Test (MNT) scores and Body Mass Index (BMI)were entered into statistical programs and analyzed with appropriat estatistical methods. P value ¡Ü0.05 was consideredstatistically significant. Result: 299 patients were included in the study and 66.2%(n = 198) were females. Mean age was 82.21 ¡À 7,79 (min:65, max: 104). There was a significant relationship between age groups and sex. As the age increased, the female gender increased. The mean of BMI was 23.85 ¡À 4.41 kg / m2;age, sex, and BMI (p> 0,05). Patients were in the group withnormal BMI. Those who had BMI under 22 were 36.8% (n= 110). The mean MNT scores were 19.93 ¡À 4.67. Malnutrition was not at risk with a maximum of 44% (n = 132). Asage increases, MNT score and BMI decrease; Likewise, MNTand BMI of women were higher than men. However, there was no significant relationship between age and genderand MNT and BMI (p> 0.05). When the relationship between BMI and MNT was examined, MNT scores increa-sed with increasing BMI, and a significant correlation wasfound (r = 0,312; p = 0,000). Conclusion: Homecare patients are more at risk of malnutrition due to the limitations of their daily living activities.
