%X To be able to make a comment about the cultural world of the society, analyzing the folk literature works, especiallay in terms of subject, must be seen as an obligation. A mani is a functional literary product which is created by folk memory. Relative to other folk verses mani is easier to generate and perform in the basis of form and type thus its content has to be intense, and this intensity is compressed into only one quatrain . Therefore, people can tell a mani for many thoughts and feelings with out needing an artist¡¯s ability to do it. The simplicity of generating, and the diversity of the subject makes the perfomation of this genre practical, thus telling mani had became a tradation. Tradation of telling mani is a national value, and it has been formed by filtering effects of the experiences of centuries, and by being pursuant to certain rules it is transfered through generation to current days. In this study manis which is telled in Usak and the tradation of telling manis in Usak will be evaluated according to functional theory
