%0 Journal Article %T Nowadays The Place of Helicobacter Pylori in Human Health; Where is it Standing in The Balance of Loss and Benefits ? %A Reyhan £¿ALI£¿KAN %J - %D 2018 %X Helicobacter pylori may cause asymptomatic infections, gastritis, ulcer and severe gastric cancers in infected persons and this bacteria was also classified as class I human carcinogen by the IARC. Bacterial factors, host and environmental factors act together in the development of gastric cancer. While Treg responses are particularly observed in infected asymptomatic patients, the dominant development of the immune response towards Th1, together with the host¡¯s tendency, provide a basis for the process of gastric cancer. Nowadays, together with improved living conditions, with immunization policies against infections and with moving away from crowded living conditions, the increase in the prevalence of atopic diseases and asthma are quite remarkable. According to the hygiene hypothesis; depending on hygienic living conditions and on non-exposure to infectious agents in early life, an undeveloped Treg response prohibits the formation of immunotolerance and allergic diseases occur related to the dominance of Th2 response. The relationship between H. pylori and gastric cancer was proven by many studies. However, in recent years, in some studies related with H.pylori and its protection from allergic diseases, the increase in Treg response in H. pyloriinfected individuals was reported to be related with the protection from asthma. In this review; H. pylori was evaluated in terms of developing gastric cancer and protecting from allergic diseases and asthma. Although there is much research related with H.pylori and gastric cancer, much more studies related with its role in prevention from allergic diseases are needed but, it is clear that an answer to the question of ¡°could H.pylori be a beneficial microorganism¡± can be found according to the results of these studies. We believe the coming days will be very seriously in search of answers to the question of ¡®¡¯In addition to the known harmful aspects of H. pylori, is it also a utilized beneficial agent? %K H. pylori %K gastrik kanser %K ast£¿m %K hijyen hipotezi %U http://dergipark.org.tr/atk/issue/38771/451159
