%0 Journal Article %T Transferring the School of Medicine to Haydarpasa and Its Opening (1903) %J - %D 2019 %X Medical education in madrasa that was being taught in the early period of the Ottoman, has become an independent structure since the reign of Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent. The establishment of the medical organization and the beginning of medical education began with the period of Mahmud II by the foundation of the T£¿bhane-i Amire. This review outlines the establishment of T£¿bhane-i £¿mire. Besides, it was emphasized on the reason for the construction, transportation and opening of the Mekteb-i T£¿bbiye-i £¿ahane building in Haydarpasa which was built in the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II. Although the period of pre-construction of the building was criticized for various political and special reasons at the time, this work of Sultan Abdulhamid II has an exceptional place in the development of Turkish medicine.
