%T THE EFFECT OF ACUPUNCTURE ON PAIN AND FATIGUE IN PATIENTS WITH FIBROMYALGIA

%X Introduction: Fibromyalgia is a chronic musculoskeletal disease characterized by chronic diffuse body pain, fatigue, sleep disturbance and multiple problems. Acupuncture is a common treatment modality for fibromyalgia. The aim of our study was to evaluate the effect of acupuncture on pain and fatigue. Material and Method: 15 patients with a mean age of 46,16 ¡À 6,55 received 12 sessions of acupuncture treatment for 2 months. To evaluate the pain VAS (Visual Pain Scale) and to evaluate the fatigue Fatigue Severity Scale were administered before and after the treatment. Results: There was a significant change in VAS and Fatigue Severity Scale after treatment compared to pre-treatment (P <0.005). There were no side effects during treatment. Conclusion: We think that acupuncture is effective on pain and fatigue in fibromyalgia
