%X Crimean Tatars were en masse deported throughout the USSR from Crimea in 1944. They were forced to live in ¡®special settlements¡¯ regime until 1956. After this regime was lifted, some national cultural institutions like the newspaper Lenin Bayrag£¿ were established. This article discusses the importance of Lenin Bayrag£¿ for Crimean Tatars in exile as a unique publication and its relationship with the National Movement. The document analysis and the interviews show how Lenin Bayrag£¿ helped Crimean Tatars protect and develop their national language and find ways to keep alive the memory of Crimea among people despite harsh censorship
