%0 Journal Article %T Comparison of adopted children and adolescents with the ones living in institution care in terms of mental disorders %A Yasemin Yulaf %J - %D 2019 %X Purpose: In this study, it was aimed to compare the children and adolescents living with the care of the institution and those who were adopted in terms of mental disorders. Materials and Methods: In this study, 31 adopted child who were admitted to Tekirdag State Hospital compared with 57 children living in the institution. DSM V diagnostic criteria, frequency of drug treatment, depression, attention deficit, hyperactivity and behavior problem levels and sociodemographic data forms were examined retrospectively. Results: The prevalence of conduct disorder and antipsychotic drug use were found to be higher in the patients living in the institution. Similarly, the depression and attention deficit symptom levels of this group were significantly higher than the adopted group. The diagnosis of anxiety disorder was significantly higher in the adopted children than in children living in the institution. Conclusion: It is noteworthy that accompanied by symptoms of internalization, such as depressive and attention deficit, in the diagnosis of conduct disorder in children living in institution care.
