%X The aim of these pages is to show how Kurt Blumenfeld¡¯s influence determined the way in which politics began to take on meaning in Hannah Arendt¡¯s life and thinking, and how she later became involved in politics herself . I will look for this influence in the letters that Arendt and Blumenfeld exchanged from 1933 until 1963. I will then analyze three points that I consider fundamental in defining the relationship between the two thinkers and the development of their reflections: the relationship between Jewish and German culture, the fate of European Jewry, and Zionism
