%X Resumen En este trabajo de investigaci車n se realiz車 el diagn車stico estrat谷gico de la provincia de occidente de Boyac芍, como destino tur赤stico, trav谷s de un estudio cualitativo- descriptivo-interpretativo logrado a partir de la recopilaci車n de informaci車n mediante la aplicaci車n de entrevistas semi- estructuradas a habitantes, turistas, empresarios y gobierno, de la provincia de Occidente; conocida por la extracci車n de esmeraldas de alta calidad. Los resultados muestran desarticulaci車n, deficiente infraestructura en v赤as, tecnolog赤as de informaci車n y comunicaci車n, infraestructura tur赤stica y gesti車n del recurso humano. Abstract An strategic diagnosis of tourist destination of the West of Boyac芍 was made. The investigation was made through a qualitative - descriptive - interpretative study achieved as information given through application of semi structured interviews to inhabitants, tourists, government and entrepreneurs in the region. It was possible to present a diagnosis of the situation of tourism in the region which is well known by high quality emeralds exploitation. The results show disarticulation, bad road structure as well as in Information technology, communication, tourism infrastructure and human resources management
