%X El papel que los empresarios de la construcci車n desempeˋaron en los procesos de urbanizaci車n realizados dentro del municipio de Tunja, durante el per赤odo 1974 al 2014, fue altamente significativo no solo para el sector de la construcci車n sino para el desarrollo empresarial y econ車mico de la regi車n. Los resultados mostraron que los constructores fueron afectados por la situaci車n econ車mica, pol赤tica y social del pa赤s; sin embargo, supieron aprovechar las oportunidades y mitigar las amenazas, tomando decisiones que no solo favorecieron a sus empresas, sino que convirtieron a Tunja en una ciudad de proyecci車n urban赤stica, con tendencia a dejar de ser una ciudad intermedia para convertirse en un 芍rea metropolitana. El desarrollo empresarial de los constructores se puede adjudicar a sus ra赤ces, que estuvieron fortalecidas por la educaci車n, valores, creencias, ideas, imaginarios, actitudes y representaciones de la realidad; junto con sus capacidades de liderazgo y habilidad para los negocios, que los coloc車 en la c迆spide de la escala social de la regi車n, otorg芍ndoles los privilegios propios de su 谷xito econ車mico y su nivel social. ABSTRACT The role of the construction managers in the development of urbanization in Tunja, during the period of 1974 - 2014, was highly meaningful not only for the construction sector but for the corporate and economic group development of the region. Results showed that constructors were affected by the economic, social and political situation of the country. However, they managed to take advantage of the opportunities and alleviate the threats by taking decisions that were not only in favour of their Companies but they converted Tunja in a City where urbanistic projection was made. This helped Tunja to change from an intermediate city to a Metropolitan area in the near future. The Constructors Business Development can be allocated to their roots which were strengthen by education, values, beliefs, ideas, attitudes and representations of reality. Also their leadership capability, and their ability for business placed them on the top of the social scale in the region giving them privileges of their economic success and their social status
