%X Sa£¿etak Der Beitrag setzt sich mit der Verbalinjurie als Tropus und einer £¿sthetik der F£¿kalit£¿t in der religi£¿s orientierten Polemik des literarischen Katholizismus (vor allem bei L¨¦on Bloy und Theodor Haecker) auseinander. Die T£¿tigkeitsfelder der Autoren reichen von interkonfessioneller Disputation, ¨¹ber Absetzung von konkurrierenden literarischen Programmatiken (Naturalismus) bis hin zu einer kritischen Haltung gegen¨¹ber zeitgen£¿ssischen Tendenzen des fr¨¹hen 20. Jhs. (Materialismus, Positivismus, Totalitarismus). Die Bildwelten reagieren auf eine Krise der Bezeichnung und w£¿hlen das Skatologische als Alternative, um den Gegenstand der Ablehnung zu erfassen und eine Sprache der Intensit£¿t in einem apokalyptischen Zeitalter zu garantieren. // The paper addresses the use of faecal and abusive language as a trope in the religious polemics of literary Catholicism, especially in the works by L¨¦on Bloy and Theodor Haecker. Their dirty talk can be interpreted as a way to add emphasize to their own position in interconfessional discussions, in the opposition to alternative literary programs (naturalism) or in the fight against the ideologies of the 20th century, like materialism, positivism and totalitarism. The images and tropes used can be defined as a reaction against the crisis of signification. Scatology is then the only way to describe different subjects of abjection in an equal way and create a language of intensity in an apocalyptical time
