%0 Journal Article %T The Role of Native Idiom Communication Skills Development of Young Pupils %A Puljak %A Lucija %J - %D 2011 %X Sa£¿etak Experts and interested laymen often voice contradictory opinions on whether one should encourage children to use their native speech outside the intimate family environment or not. Many argue that a child has to master the standard idiom as soon as possible, and then use it consistently in ¡®official¡¯ situations (in a preschool or school institution). Research carried out for the needs of this study contributes to doubting the belief that a child¡¯s use of the native language should be suppressed in school and everyday communication.
