Method: descriptive study with a qualitative approach, developed with 18 participants diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus, living in a municipality in Mato Grosso do Sul. In order to collect data, we used semistructured interviews, audio-recorded, which were fully transcribed. The testimonies were organized by the Iramuteq£¿ software and categorized through content analysis, thematic modality. Results: the speeches gave rise to four categories: ¡°Storage and packaging of the inputs used in insulin therapy¡±; ¡°Reuse as a resource optimization strategy¡±; ¡°Inadequate disposal of waste resulting from insulin therapy¡±; and ¡°Weaknesses in the information on the handling of inputs in the home environment¡±. Final considerations: From the experiences of insulin-dependent people with DM, we understood that the information about the method of storage, reuse and disposal of inputs is incipient, so that the biosafety of these individuals can be undermined. %K Diabetes Mellitus %K Primary Health Care %K Convulsive Therapy %K Containment of Biohazards %U http://seer.fafiman.br/index.php/REPEN/article/view/607/561
