Amination of bisacetate 2 with Me2NH and subsequent quaternization of the intermediate amine 3 gave iodide 4. By the action of alkoxides derived from methyl glycolate and methyl lactate on acetate 2 or salt 4, unsaturated ether 5 (8¨C22 %), unsaturated esters 6a (6b) (2¨C18 %) and ester-ethers 7a (7b) (6¨C15 %) were obtained.
