%X Sa£¿etak The topic of this paper is coinage flowing into the area of early mediaeval Croatia in the second half of the eighth and the first half of the ninth century. The bulk concerns gold Byzantine coins, as well as some rare specimens of Carolingian and Arabian coins. They are valuable numismatic sources, which, put in the political-economic context, greatly contribute to a better understanding of the period of Croatian history at the time of the Aachen peace treaty
