The place, role and importance of general practitioners in the field of psychia-try are keystones between medicine and society, which essentially shapes the traditional role of physi-cians. That space is the context in which the role of general practitioners in psychiatry is viewed. Psy-chiatry, more than in other disciplines, is dominated by the eclectic principle as opposed to the integra-tive holistic principle.
