The base layer is £¿akavian so the local dialect belongs to the South £¿akavian dialect, similar to the local dialects between Podstrana and Omi£¿. There are some of important phonological features of the local dialect of Dugi Rat obtained from recent field work: Ikavian reflex of *¨§ (lik£¿r, cv£¿t, dv£¿) with a few Ekavian forms (s£¿no, z£¿nica); the reflex of OCS *£¿ > a after palatal consonants in several cases (j¨¤zik, zaj£¿t) and *£¿ > e after other consonants (gr¨¦da, t¨¦lac); the semivowel produces the vowel a (d£¿n); we find some examples of £¿akavian vocalization of vowels in weak positions (vaz£¿st); the vocalic l and OCS *£¿ are consistently changed into the vowel u (t£¿st, gr£¿b); examples like r¨¦bac, r£¿st and kr£¿st with change ra > re, and gr£¿b with change ro > re; no phoneme £¿ (£¿£¿p); the existence of ( , ); unstable position of phonemes x (m£¿j, b¨´va, £¿p£¿ker) and f (vr£¿gat, v¨´re£¿t/f¨´re£¿t); the phoneme j and as reflexes of primary and secondary jotation of the dental d (m£¿ja, ml£¿ja, , £¿£¿ ); the sequences *st¡¯ and *zd¡¯, as well as *sk, *zg gave £¿£¿ ( ), zj/£¿j (and also ) ( , , gr£¿zje, ); the *£¿r sequence is preserved in few cases ( , ); examples such as dojt(i), dojdemo turned into d£¿ , d£¿ mo; partial change of £¿ into j (p£¿£¿e/p£¿je); change of -m > -n in final position in grammatical endings and indeclinable words (lav¨´r¨¡n, s£¿dan); £¿akavian modification of consonant clusters (k£¿£¿ka, kl£¿ko); the consonant l is preserved in the syllable-final position (s£¿l, k£¿sel, k£¿lca) but not in the singular of masculine nouns in past participle, there are examples such as zv£¿, k¨²pija, ¨´krea; a five accent system (£¿er£¿va, tov£¿r, mej£¿£¿, £¿¨¬vot, tr¨¢£¿it) with a pre-accentual lenght (£¿¨¡lc£¿n I jd.), and postaccentual length (s m£¿n¨±n), but post-accentual lenght is not stable (g£¿lub); lengthening of vowels before sonorant consonants (kr£¿v, k£¿¨½, s£¿nce) %K local dialect of Dugi Rat %K phonology %K south £¿akavian dialect %K £¿akavian dialect %K £¿akavian-£¿tokavian relations %U https://hrcak.srce.hr/index.php?show=clanak&id_clanak_jezik=335574
