%0 Journal Article %T Proto-Slavic *d¨§t£¿/d¨§t§î and Hittite t¨¥ta %A Furlan %A Metka %J - %D 2019 %X Sa£¿etak The external comparative evidence, namely the PIE *dh¨¦H1i-to- > ProtoAnatolian *t£¿do- > Hittite t¨¥ta- n ¡®breast, teat¡¯ < *¡®that what is suckled¡¯ indicates that in the Slavic relation *d¨§t£¿ (western, southern) : *dit£¿ (eastern) the second link *dit£¿ has the original root-vocalism, but the first one d¨§t£¿ secondary, i.e. analogical, due to the influence of the Proto-Slavic causative *do¢I¡•ti which also caused that the seme ¡®to suck (mother¡¯s milk)¡¯ was replaced by ¡®to breastfeed, to give to suck¡¯. Proto-Slavic *d¨§týË/ditýË and *dýÔt§î are substantivized adjectives of the type *mold§ì adj. ¡ú subst. *mold£¿ and *zelen§ì adj. ¡ú subst. *zelen§î. The full-grade vocalism of the Proto-Anatolian *t£¿do- and of the original Proto-Slavic *d¨ªt§ì (> *dýÍt§ì) from the null-grade PIE verbal adjective *dhH1i-t¨®- ¡®such one who is sucked¡¯ (cf.
