The aim of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of the Motivation for Solitude Scale¨CShort Form by evaluating its internal consistency, factor structure, and convergent and discriminant validity using a group of South African adolescents (n£¿=£¿818). Results revealed satisfactory internal consistency for each of the two subscales, as well as good convergent and discriminant validity. Confirmatory factor analysis supported a two-factor higher order model as providing the best fit. The Motivation for Solitude Scale¨CShort Form seems to be a valid measure of motivation for solitude among South African adolescents and provides an avenue for further research on the role of solitude in adolescent well-being %K Adolescents %K motivation for solitude %K Rasch modelling %K validity %U https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/0081246317744391
