In particular, intrinsic motivation is a key factor in language learning success. Studies examining the relationship between intrinsic motivation and learning performance have provided useful insights into effective teaching styles and successful learning outcomes. This review article explores the association between the good language learner and intrinsic motivation. Research indicates that learners¡¯ intrinsic motivation declines developmentally and may lead to decreased academic achievement. Therefore, language learners require intrinsic motivation for learning.
