The mechatronic model of the machine is developed based on the coupling of the needle bar and thread take-up lever mechanism dynamic and the DC motor models. Based on the mechatronic model, the consumed energy, the DC motor load, and the coupler tracking error are minimized, simultaneously. The multiobjective imperialist competitive algorithm is used to perform the mechatronic design optimization. The obtained results show that if the user allows a small tracking error, he can significantly reduce the motor load, the vibration, and the consumed energy of the sewing machine %K Sewing machine %K mechatronic approach %K multiobjective optimization %K consumed energy %K current fluctuation %U https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/0954406216687786
