%X In review of the current cardiac surgical literature, the care for complex pathology continues to make big strides forward. Much of this ˇ°progressˇ± is driven by new technology or new applications for technology. In both mitral disease and type A dissection management, technology is changing the way the pathologies are approached. This article addresses some of the advances demonstrated in the literature and gives a perspective on how they affect current practice
