%X This article offers an interpretation of Jesus¡¯ invitation to ¡°rest for the soul¡± in Matthew 11:28¨C30. On this interpretation Jesus¡¯ offer of rest is an invitation to start a whole new way of life¡ªa life characterized by rest with God working its way into the depths of one¡¯s soul by means of indwelling Spirit. This understanding of Jesus¡¯ offer of rest is developed in light of the immediate context in Matthew, parallel passages in Jeremiah and Sirach and a biblical theology of the fall
