Inhabiting a matrix of feminine family roles, as daughter, sister, bride, wife, mother, and mother-in-law, Rebekah embodies numerous core qualities, both positive and problematic. A close reading of the different elements of her story will illustrate her foundational significance for the Ancestor Narratives of Genesis 12¨C50, as well as her role in setting the course for the people of Israel, whose matriarch she is
