%X The Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Thoracic Surgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, United Kingdom (UK), has been in post since 2011. This was a new post and has been developed to meet the needs of the local service. In examining the relevance of specialist nurses in thoracic surgery, I have reflected on the process of developing our service in Oxford and the areas where having specialist nursing input has made the most impact to the patient pathway
