%X Interstitial lung disease (ILD) refers to a group of lung diseases with a great diversity of etiology, pathological change, treatment and prognosis. The current guidelines emphasize the significant role of video-assisted thoracic surgical lung biopsy (VATS-LB) for a definitely diagnosis of ILD, but they also encourage physicians to maintain the balance between the surgical benefits as well as risks (1,2)
