It has been estimated that approximately 1 million patients are newly diagnosed with gastric cancer worldwide each year, which accounts for nearly 10% of all cancer deaths (1,2). Patients with gastric cancer are diagnosed mostly at advanced clinical stages, typically accruing lymphatic tumor dissemination, with poor prognosis and a 5-year survival rate <30% (3). The tumorigenesis and development of GC is multifactorial and complicated which evolves in dysregulation of various genetic and epigenetic alterations (4). However, the detailed molecular mechanisms in GC have not been well elucidated at present. Therefore, it is of great significance to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying the initiation and progression of GC in order to develop novel and efficient therapeutic strategies for GC %U http://tcr.amegroups.com/article/view/17412/html
