%X Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a cancer of the epithelial cells of the pharynx (1). NPC epidemiology research showed a specific geographic distribution in southern China with a high incidence and prevalence rates (2). In addition, population-based analysis revealed a strong familial aggregation tendency among NPC patients, suggesting that genetic susceptibility can be critical in NPC tumorigenesis (3)
