%X Gastric cancer (GC) is the third leading cause of cancer-related mortality, accounting for approximately 783,000 deaths (1 in every 12 deaths) globally in 2018 (1). To date, gastrectomy and chemotherapy are still the main therapeutic options for patients with GC (2). Many new agents, such as pembrolizumab, avelumab and rilitumumab, have been investigated in patients with GC but didn¡¯t demonstrate efficacy (3,4). Due to its high prevalence, low survival, and limited treatment choices, GC remains an important clinical practice challenge
