In response to allergens and pollutants, epithelial cells produce cytokines that stimulate dendritic cells (DC) priming T CD4+ cells to a pro-inflammatory phenotype by the activation of RORyt transcription factor leading to the differentiation of na£¿ve T CD4+ cells into Th17 effector cells. These cells secrete IL-17A and IL-17F, which act as heterodimers in the IL-17RA and IL-17RC receptors in the epithelial cells surface. Thus, this interaction actives the NFkB that start nuclear transcription of cytokines (IL-6 and IL-8).
