This descriptive study was conducted in Trabzon Province with nurses (N = 227), who work in a public hospital between September 2018 ¨C November 2018. The sample of the study consisted of 196 nurses who accepted to participate in the study voluntarily and were active on the dates of the study, except for those with permission-report. In the data collection phase, the form that determines the demographic characteristics and thoughts of the elderly, and Kogan Attitudes Toward Old People Scale were used. It was found that 54.6% of the nurses participating in the study were between 36-54 years of age, 73.5% were women and 70.4% were married and 15.3% took gerontology nursing courses in the academic years. It was found that 23% of the nurses wanted to work continuously in the clinic where the elderly were, while 77% did not want to work with them. 79.6% of the nurses stated that working with elderly patients was more difficult than the other patients and 20.4% stated that there was no different difficulty. The mean score of the nurses' attitudes towards the elderly was 107.21 ¡À 16.233 and it was determined that they had a positive attitude. There was a statistically significant relationship between age, educational status, study year and scale mean score of nurses (p <0.05). In our study; nurses have a positive attitude towards the elderly. Attitudes of nurses living with elderly in any period of life were more positive. Activities that enable individuals to spend time with the elderly since childhood can also be done at the social level.
