Qutang Gorge narrates the story of a pair of Queer mate, Shi Dan and Mulberry—they had an inti-mate homosexual relationship. As an escaper, a mirror and a father, Shi Dan imposed a prominent influence on Mulberry’s life choices. Rooted in their family of origin, trauma of respectively losing their father or mother caused the two to spiritually take on a corresponding family role. However, their stable life and relationship was then cracked by the intervention of an exiled student. Mul-berry desired to “live”, and thus gave her first night despite the would-be physical betrayal of her intimate relationship with Shi Dan. In her pursuit of the mystery of self, Mulberry faltered between spirit and flesh, as well as life and death.
