Reversal of brain death: the prosperity of medicine or themedical challenge to philosophy?
According to foreign and Chinese media reports, two US companies, Bioquark Inc. and Revita LifeSciences, announced a recent plan to undertake the first clinical trial to resurrect the clinically dead brain using stemcell transplantation techniques, which has been given permission by American and Indian governments. Although so farbiotechnologies such as stem cell therapy have made remarkable achievements, it is still impossible to bring the dead backto life in medicine. In addition, this trial goes against the basic law of philosophy and its final goal of reviving the deadis impossible to come true. Moreover, the public misunderstanding of this trial might lead to the emerging of scientismtendency and further deteriorate the doctor-patient relationship. Therefore, scientists should revere the general guidancefunction and value of philosophy, and media should report such scientific researches with a scientific and serious attitude %K
