%0 Journal Article %T nicotineinducedhepatotoxicityanditspreventionwithdatepalmpitpowder %A bushramunir %A mohammadtahir %A sobiamunir %A muhammadnawazchaudhry %A abdulqadir %J 应用与环境生物学报 %P 489-493 %D 2015 %R 10.3724/SP.J.1145.2014.09005 %X cigarettesmokingiscommoninsocietiesworldwideandhasbeenidentifiedasinjurioustohumanhealth.nicotineisthemostabundantcomponentinthecigarettesmoke.itisfirstmetabolizedintheliver.thenaturaldietcontainsavarietyofcompounds,suchasdatepalm(phoenixdactyliferal.).itexhibitsprotectiveeffectagainstdifferenttoxins.theaimsofpresentstudyweretoinvestigatethedamagingeffectsofnicotineontheliverandthepreventiveroleofdatepalmagainstsuchdamage.datepalmpitpowderwasusedtostudyitsprotectiveeffectonnicotineinducedhepatotoxicity.threegroupsofadultmalealbinomicewereused,eachcontainingeightanimals.groupaservedasacontrol;groupbwasusedasanexperimentalgrouptreatedwithnicotine(0.3mg/kg)intraperitoneallyforforty-fivedays;groupcreceivednicotine(0.3mg/kg)intraperitoneallyalongwithdatepalmpitpowder(500mg/kg)orallyforforty-fivedays.histopathologicalexaminationrevealedthatthegeneralarchitecturewasdamagedwithincreaseinsizeofhepatocytes,centralveinandnumberoffatvacuolesandperiportalinfiltrationoflymphocytes.thenicotinetreatedmiceshoweddecreasedlevelofcytoplasmicvacuolization,necrosisandinflammation.datepalmpitpowderadministrationtonicotine-treatedmiceshowedreversionofthedamagedfeaturetonearlynormal.theseresultsalongwithpreviousstudysuggestthatdatepalmpitpowderisusefulincombatingnicotineinducedhepatotoxicity. %K nicotine %K hepatotxicity %K datepalmpitpowder %U http://www.cibj.com/oa/DArticle.aspx?type=view&id=201409005
