%X £¿in1982theknownrangeofthemusk-deer(genusmoschus)inchinawasextendedtoanhuiprovince.thenewlydiscoveredpopulationwasallocatedtoanewtaxon,moschusmoschiferusanhuiensiswang,hu&yan,1982.althoughtraditionallythegenusmoschuswasregardedasmonotypic(ellerman&morrison-scott,1951),threespeciesweredistinguishedindetailbyflerov(1952)andgao(1963).thelatterauthorprovideddetaileddescriptionsofthethreespecies,andsincethenallcommentatorshavecon-cededthatthisgeneralpictureiscorrect.
