%X wereporttheorganizationofpolymer-dispersedliquidcrystals(pdlcs)intoorderedconcentricringsoverlargeareasbydryingadropofboundpdlctoluenesolution(i.e.,confinedbetweenasphericallensandanindiumtinoxide(ito)-coatedglasssubstrate;sphere-on-itogeometry).theformationofregularring-likedepositswasadirectconsequenceofcontrolled"stick-slip"cyclesofthree-phasecontactlineduringthecourseofsolventevaporation,whichwaseffectivelyregulatedthroughtheuseofthesphere-on-itogeometry.thissimpleapproachbasedoncontrolledevaporativeorganizationmayprovideanewmeansofprocessingpolymer/lcmixturetoproduceorderedsurfacepatternsinonestep,wheremicroscopiclcsaredispersedwithinthepolymermatrix.
