%X ？？fileformatobsolescenceisamajorriskfactorthreateningthesustainabilityofandaccesstodigitalinformation.？whilethepreservationcommunityhasbecomeincreasinglyinterestedintoolsformigrationandtransformationoffileformats,thenationallibraryofaustraliaisdevelopingmechanismsspecificallyfocusedonmonitoringandassessingtherisksoffileformatobsolescence.？thispaperreportsontheaonsiiproject,undertakenbythenationallibraryofaustralia(nla)inconjunctionwiththeaustralianpartnershipforsustainablerepositories(apsr).？theprojectaimedtodevelopasoftwaretoolwhichallowsuserstoautomaticallymonitorthestatusoffileformatsintheirrepositories,makeriskassessmentsbasedonacoresetofobsolescenceriskquestions,andreceivenotificationswhenfileformatriskschangeorotherrelatedeventsoccur.？thispapercallsforthepreservationcommunitytodevelopaco-operatingfileformatobsolescencecommunitywhichincludesregistries,softwaretoolcreatorsandenduserstoeffectivelycuratedigitalcontentinordertomaintainlong-termaccess.
