%X ThetimewhenGondwanafinallyformedisstilldebatable(PowellandPisarevsky,2002;Meert,2003).Paleomagneticdatahavedemonstratedthattheappar-entpolarwanderpaths(APWPs)forthemainconti-nentalblocksofGondwanaareingoodagreementfromEarlyCambriantoatleast260MaunderthewidelyacceptedGondwanafit(seeLi&Powell,2001,Fig.6).ThisisespeciallythecaseforAustraliaandAfrica,ofwhichAPWPsarebestdefinedandnearidentical.ThisindicatesthatthemainamalgamationofEastGondwanaandAfricanblockshaslikelycom-pletedsincetheEarlyCambrian.
