%X ThemetazoanQuadrapyrgitesconsists,fromproximaltodistalends,ofanoralarea,acone,acollar,andanapexfromtheEarlyCambrianFortunianStageinXixiangZhangjiagousection,southernShaanxiProvince,SouthChina.Threemorphologicaltypesoftheapex,themostcharacteristicfeatureofthetaxon,areidentifiedfromhundredsofQuadrapyrgitesspecimens.TheQuadrapyrgitesgrowthzoneissituatedattheoralend,where12terminallobesaregenerated,uplifted,enlarged,andevaginatedtoformacrest;Aone-by-oneofcrestnumberfrom2to13hasbeenrecognized.TheuniquegrowthpatternandontogeneticsequencerefuteacubozoanorcycloneuralianaffinityforOlivooidesandQuadrapyrgites,andinsteaddefendacoronatescyphozoanhypothesis.Anembryonicdevelopmentandontogeneticsequencewithembryoandcrestisconstructed.
