%X CholinechloridecanincreasetheactivitiesofHillreactionandATPaseinisolatedchloroplastfromwheatleaves.Itcanalsoincreasetheactivitiesofribulose-1,5-bisphosphatecar-boxylase(RuBPCaseEC4.1.1.39)andglyceraldehyde-3-phosphatedehydrogenase(G-3-PDHEC1.2.1.13)withthemethodofvacuuminfiltration.Buthigherconcentrationsofcholinechlo-ridetendstoinhibitetheactivitiesoftheseenzymes.Asaresultofcholinechloridetreatmenttheamountsofbothproteinandchlorophyllcanbeincreased,andthephotosyntheticratecanberaised,too.Theabovedatasuggestthatthecholinechloridemayactontheenzymesinvolvedinlightreactionanddarkreactioninthephotosynthesis.
